Libraries for Littles

Libraries for Littles provides free books at Warren General Hospital for newborns and their siblings. Parents choose the books for the baby and siblings make their choice from a wide selection on the Free Books Truck. Every family takes home a hand-sewn book bag thanks to the generosity of Quilter’s Night Out and other local volunteers.

“Our goal is to reach the neediest families”, declares Ruby Wiles, Free Books for Kids Town founder and director. Over 50% of babies born in rural and small town hospitals are born to Moms on Medicaid. Our program reaches 100% of the neediest babies born in our rural hospital. The “Board books” we give are sturdy, easy to handle and feature almost exclusively American-printed books. We are pleased and proud to feature these American-printed books and to support the only board book publisher in the United States in nearby Buffalo, New York.

We aim to send every newborn home with a mini-library of five (5) books to kick start a great life. You can help by making a donation designated for Libraries for Littles.

*Libraries for Littles began in 2015 with initial funding from all seven Lutheran churches in Warren County:
Berea, Pittsfield; Bethany, Sheffield; First, Warren; Hessel Valley, Chandler’s Valley; Saron, Youngsville, St. John, Pleasant Township; St. Paul, Warren.
